PARKHOY KNOWLEDGE

A practical guide to honey

Useful questions about origin, quality, and storage.

How do you choose honey?

Ask about the specific jar and its producer.

Origin

Ask where and when it was harvested, when known.

Identity

A floral-source claim needs suitable evidence.

Label

Check net weight, packing details, and storage advice.

What can testing tell us?

Codex publishes an international standard for honey.

Moisture and HMF are among the quality indicators. A test needs to relate to the product or batch described; no single home test proves authenticity.

  1. Codex Alimentarius — Standard for Honey — FAO/WHO standard

Crystallization and storage

Crystallization alone does not establish that honey is adulterated.

Keep the jar closed and away from heat and direct sunlight. Details for each PARKHOY product will be published when it is confirmed.

Do not give honey to children under one year old: WHO warns of infant botulism.

  1. WHO — Botulism — Infant safety
  2. USDA — Extracted Honey Grades — Honey quality terminology
